Dolls’ House Project

January 5, 2010

For a long time now I’ve been desperate to get a lovely traditional dolls’ house for Grace and I to do up together. Ok, I’ve been desperate to get one for myself but now Grace is older, she’s the perfect excuse to get one! So for Christmas we got Grace this:

It is second hand, but they hadn’t done anything with it so we can start from scratch. My Mum and I also got a variety of carpets and accessories to go in it and some paint pot samples to paint the rooms with. I shall also make some little curtains from my stash of fabric offcuts.

A couple of days after Christmas we started painting and papering the rooms ready for the electrics to go in.

Unfortunately, the house is so big we couldn’t get it in the car with all our other stuff when we came back from my Mum’s! I’ll collect it next week and update with more photos as and when we get round to it.

I’ll be following this with interest, Amy! Erica got a doll’s house for Christmas too so I’m interested to see how you get on!

Looks wonderful. Are you going to keep us all up-to-date with your progress?

Oh wow! Colour me jealous, I’ve always loved dolls houses. I haven’t managed to find any second hand ones yet and brand new they’re quite extravagant for my student budgeting!

Wow! I never had a doll house when growing up (deprived childhood! lol!) I can’t wait to see the doll house all ‘dolled’ up! 🙂

Ooh very interesting, a dolls house is a project I’ve always wanted to undertake. I bought a very small wooden dolls house in a charity shop which I was going to use a sort of practice house before buying a proper big one but haven’t got around to doing anything yet. I’ll be following this with interest!

Thank you for all your comments, Grace and I are indeed very lucky. Mum is totally snowed in at the moment but as soon as I am able to get the house back I will post on our progress. Watch this space…
